Services
Oil Changes
- Full-service oil change with up to 5 quarts of synthetic blend oil and a new oil filter on most vehicles.
- Full synthetic and high-mileage oils are also available.
- Many newer vehicles go 5,000 to 10,000 miles between changes. Your owner's manual lists the recommended interval.
Fluid Top-Offs
- Washer fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and power steering fluid.
- If a level keeps dropping between visits, we'll point it out, since that can indicate a leak.
Transmission Fluid and Coolant
- Transmission fluid replacement for smooth shifting.
- Coolant replacement to protect against overheating and corrosion.
- We use the fluid type your vehicle's manufacturer specifies.
Air and Cabin Filters
- A clogged engine air filter reduces power and fuel economy.
- The cabin filter cleans the air coming through your vents. A musty smell or weak airflow usually means it's due.
Wiper Blades
- Blades that streak, chatter, or skip should be replaced, typically every six to twelve months.
- We install the correct size for your vehicle.
Safety Inspections
- Required every year for vehicles registered in North Carolina, before the registration is renewed.
- Can be done up to 90 days before your registration expires.
- Covers brakes, lights, steering, tires, horn, mirrors, wipers, exhaust, and window tint, among other items.
Emissions Inspections
- Required for vehicles registered in 19 North Carolina counties, including Wake, Durham, Johnston, and Alamance. It's done in the same visit as the safety inspection.
- Vehicles 20 or more years old, diesel vehicles, farm vehicles, and some newer light-duty vehicles are exempt.
- A vehicle with the check engine light on won't pass.
- Full rules, including the county list: NCDMV emissions inspections.
Brakes
- Squealing, grinding, a soft pedal, or pulling to one side are signs your brakes need attention.
- We inspect the pads, rotors, and brake fluid, and explain what we find before any work begins.
Tune-Ups
- Rough idling, hard starts, or lower fuel economy can mean your engine is due.
- Depending on the vehicle, a tune-up may include spark plugs, filters, and ignition components.
Minor Repairs
- Worn belts, leaking hoses, burned-out bulbs, and similar parts.
- Call or stop by to ask whether we can handle a specific repair.
Batteries
- Most batteries last three to five years, and summer heat shortens that.
- If your car is slow to start or the battery light is on, we'll test the battery and replace it if needed.
New Tires
- Replace tires when the tread is worn or a tire is damaged.
- Call your location to check which sizes are in stock.
Flat Repairs
- Punctures in the tread can usually be patched.
- Sidewall damage can't be repaired safely, so the tire will need to be replaced.
Rotations and Pressure Checks
- Rotating every 5,000 to 7,500 miles helps tires wear evenly.
- Correct pressure improves handling, braking, and fuel economy.
- Can be done during an oil change.
Inspections: Vehicles registered in Johnston County need an emissions inspection along with the annual safety inspection.
